The first day of betting is in the books at Churchill Downs and morning line favorite Nyquist took some money. Nyquist was installed as a 3-1 morning line favorite but closed the opening day of wagering as a 2-1 favorite. The biggest move in the wrong direction was Gotham Stakes winner Shagaf. Churchill Downs oddsmaker Mike Battaglia opened Shagaf as a 20/1 choice on the morning line.
